A riverside night market in old warehouses, with a Ferris wheel, restaurants and a free ferry from Saphan Taksin.
The warehouses belonged to the East Asiatic Company, a Danish trading firm that ran teak and shipping from this stretch of the Chao Phraya. They sat derelict for decades before reopening as a market in 2012, keeping the brick shells and steel roofs.
It is the easiest evening for a family or a first night: clean, walkable, on the water, and the boat ride there is half the fun. Touristy, but honestly pleasant.
What you’ll actually see
- The riverfront boardwalk at dusk, looking across to the west bank
- Warehouse 1–4 for crafts and clothing
- The Ferris wheel, which is small but gives a river view
- Calypso Cabaret, if you want a show with dinner
How to visit it well
- Take the free shuttle boat from Saphan Taksin pier.
- Calypso Cabaret is here if you want a show.
- Eat at the river-facing restaurants, not the food court.
Mistakes worth avoiding
- Paying for a taxi when the free shuttle boat from Saphan Taksin is faster
- Eating at the food court instead of the river-facing restaurants
Is it worth it?
Touristy but pleasant, and the boat ride there is half the experience. Good for a first night or a family evening, less so for anyone seeking 'real' Bangkok.
