Tom moved to Chiang Mai in 2017 after eight years editing travel pages in London, and has been editing this site since 2021. His job is to make sure a page answers the question it claims to answer in the first paragraph, and to cut anything that reads like a brochure.
He writes most of the practical guides — costs, visas, transport, temple etiquette — and edits the attraction pages after the operations team has checked the facts. If a page on this site contains a number, either Tom or Areeya has verified it against a primary source.
He travels the Bangkok–Chiang Mai rail route at least twice a year out of stubborn affection for it, and still thinks the sleeper is the best value journey in the country.
