“Travelled with a 7 and a 10 year old. Boat timings changed twice and they still met us at the pier with cold water and a smile.”

Damnoen Saduak Floating Market
Leave Bangkok at 6am, private longtail through the canals, breakfast on the water and back before lunch.
A private early-morning trip to Damnoen Saduak floating market, from $59 per person, arriving at 7:30am before the tour buses. It includes a longtail boat through the back canals and a stop at a coconut-sugar workshop.
Leave Bangkok at 6am, private longtail through the canals, breakfast on the water and back before lunch.
Best for: Early risers and photographers. The route runs Bangkok. Everything below is a starting point: hotels can be upgraded or simplified, days can be added, and any element can be removed.
Damnoen Saduak has a reputation problem, and it is entirely down to timing. Arrive at 7:30am and you get the market as it actually functions: boats loaded with fruit and noodles, vendors who are there to sell to each other, and maybe twenty other visitors. Arrive at 9:30am and you get a floating souvenir stall with selfie sticks.
The trip also runs the back canals by longtail before the market, which is the part most people miss — stilted houses, coconut palms, and a working canal system that has nothing to do with tourism. The stop at a palm-sugar workshop on the way back is short and genuinely interesting.

Yes. Every itinerary on this site is a starting point. Days can be added or removed, hotels upgraded or simplified, and the route reordered around your dates — we re-cost it as many times as you need before you commit.
Not included: shopping, tips. Everything else listed under “What’s included” is in the quote, and we do not add local payments on arrival.
Three to six months ahead for the best hotels, and by September for travel over Christmas and New Year. Green-season trips can usually be arranged with six weeks’ notice.
The main canal is commercial. The back canals and the 7:30am window are not. If you want a working market with no tourists, we run Amphawa instead on weekend evenings.
No, the longtail is included in the price.

“No hidden extras. The price we agreed in November was the price we paid, entrance fees and all. Rare enough to mention.”
