“Solo traveller, eight in the group, and it never felt like a couples' trip. Boat days started at seven and were done by three, which sounds early and is exactly right — you get the water to yourself.”

Southern Islands: Andaman Sail
Six nights between Phuket and Koh Lanta on a small sailing yacht, with two days of diving and two nights at anchor.
Southern Islands: Andaman Sail is a 7-day small-group trip from Phuket to Koh Lanta, capped at eight people, from $1,890 per person. It is for travellers who want water, boats and islands and have no interest in temples.
Six nights between Phuket and Koh Lanta on a small sailing yacht, with two days of diving and two nights at anchor.
Best for: Couples and solo travellers who want water, not temples. The route runs Phuket · Koh Lanta. Everything below is a starting point: hotels can be upgraded or simplified, days can be added, and any element can be removed.
This is the only small-group trip we run in the south, and the cap of eight is the reason it works. The boat days use chartered longtails rather than shared speedboats, the group eats together at local restaurants rather than at hotel buffets, and there is a fixed leader rather than a rotating cast of local guides.
The route runs from Phuket down the Andaman coast to Koh Lanta, which means Phang Nga's hongs, the Phi Phi group, and the four islands off Krabi, with two nights on Lanta at the end for the beaches at Kantiang and the old town. There is no diving certification required and no sailing experience needed — the 'sail' in the name refers to the longtail rigs, not to you steering anything.

Yes, and the group cap of eight means it does not become a couples' trip. Single supplement applies only if you want a room to yourself.
The leader has two alternative boat days and a land-based plan for each. In the monsoon season we do not run this trip at all.

Reviews for this trip
“Great group and a brilliant leader. Koh Lanta at the end was the quietest place we stayed and I would happily have done three nights there instead of two.”
