“We didn't want a tour. We wanted someone who knew the country to make the week work. That is exactly what we got.”

Bangkok & the River Kwai
A four-day city-and-countryside break: two days in Bangkok, the bridge and the railway, and a night on the river.
Bangkok & the River Kwai is a 4-day private trip from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi, from $520 per person. It is the right shape for a stopover or a long weekend: one city day, two river days, no internal flights.
A four-day city-and-countryside break: two days in Bangkok, the bridge and the railway, and a night on the river.
Best for: A long weekend or a stopover. The route runs Bangkok · Kanchanaburi. Everything below is a starting point: hotels can be upgraded or simplified, days can be added, and any element can be removed.
Four days is not enough for Thailand, but it is enough for Bangkok and the river, and the combination is better than four days in the city alone. The first day covers the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and a longtail through the canals; the next two move west to Kanchanaburi for the bridge, the war cemeteries, the railway and Erawan Falls.
The Kanchanaburi section is the part people underestimate. It is not a scenic add-on — the Burma Railway museums and Hellfire Pass are the most serious historical sites in the country, and two days is the minimum to see them without rushing. The trip ends with a transfer back to Bangkok or straight to the airport.

What travellers say about trips like this
“Fourteen days and not one wasted morning. The only thing I would change is staying a fourth night in Krabi.”
“The guide explained the railway history without dramatising it. Careful, honest and very well organised.”
