“The elephant sanctuary they chose was small, quiet and clearly about the animals. That alone was worth booking direct.”

Hua Hin: Palace, Cave & Night Market
Phraya Nakhon cave in the morning, the beach in the afternoon and the seafood market at night.
A private full day from Hua Hin covering Phraya Nakhon Cave, Sam Roi Yot National Park and a royal palace, from $110 per person. It is 9 hours and includes the boat crossing and the cave climb.
Phraya Nakhon cave in the morning, the beach in the afternoon and the seafood market at night.
Best for: A full day from Hua Hin. The route runs Hua Hin. Everything below is a starting point: hotels can be upgraded or simplified, days can be added, and any element can be removed.
The cave is the reason to book. Phraya Nakhon is a collapsed chamber with a royal pavilion inside it, lit by a shaft of light from the ceiling opening between about 9am and 10:30am. It is the image on the reverse of the 200-baht note and it is considerably more impressive in person than on currency.
The day pairs it with Mrigadayavan Palace, a teak summer residence built in 1923 on the coast north of Hua Hin, and the Hua Hin night market on the way back if the timing works. The cave requires a 430-metre climb on rock and steps, which is the only real physical demand of the day.
